Ultrasound tests allow for early and non-invasive detection of pathological and degenerative processes in bodily organs and tissue. Pathological processes have a significant effect on the hardness of tissues/organs. This phenomenon is used in ultrasound tests combined with the use of elastography.

The ultrasound laboratory is equipped with modern apparatus for ultrasound tests with the use of elastography.

In a standard ultrasound test with elastography, the doctor uses the ultrasound head to exert slight pressure on the organ being tested. The scale of deformation under the pressure is converted and presented in coloured maps known as elastograms.
